The Line Server Unit v.3 (LSUv3) belongs to the last generation of high
performance test equipment and it is intended to support development teams,
system test, acceptance tests and production tests in all telecommunication
areas.
This equipment is also suitable as a powerful development platform in
the field of telecommunications.
The LSUv3 allows to simulate, via PCM, STM-1 and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces,
most of the functions of GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS Network elements in order
to test real pieces of equipment.
The LSUv3 is the latest and most powerful test equipment among the LSU
series of systems. This new system version supports either channelised
or unchannelised data flows, based on HDLC, ATM, IP and other special
communication protocols used between the Network Elements (e.g. TRAU Frames,
PCU Frames, V.110, IuUP etc.).
The LSUv3 can monitor signalling or traffic channels, simulate protocol
stacks, generate traffic with packet data or speech, modify data exchanged
between two real Network Element, cause single shot or periodical events
representing either failures or abnormal conditions, both for physical
interfaces and protocols.
The modular architecture of the system offers great
scalability in terms of connectivity, processing power and channel
number. A set of switching devices allow to distribute flexibly
the data flow to the available resources and processors.
The multi-tasking and multi-user operation based on a Posix compliant
operating system allows to use multiple applications concurrently,
to handle different interfaces with proper co-ordination, and/or
to share the system among multiple test beds, and/or to integrate
it in the corporate network.
In this way the LSUv3 fulfils for the best the needs of most test
environments, from Entity Test and Integration Test to System Test
and Load & Stress.
The LSUv3 already supports a growing number of protocol stacks (LAPD,SS7,
SCCOP, RLC/MAC,LLC,SNDCP,FRAME RELAY,NETWORK SERVICES,BSSGP,IP,GTP, MAP),
and it can be used to test all the interfaces between GSM and GPRS Network
Elements (Abis, A, Gb, Lb, Gi, etc.).
The LSUv3 was designed to operate in different
modes, with the addition of software modules, in order to satisfy
the test requirements for different project development stages (white
box, integration, load & stress), final and acceptance test activities,
and for other application fields.
The implementation of the various protocol strictly adhere to
the related recommendation but also provide special primitives for
generating abnormal sequence of messages in order to verify the
correct behaviour of equipment under test in all circumstances.
The LSU development team is available to design special testing suites
for new specific requirements of the customers, or to integrate additional
features (e.g. proprietary O&M procedures) in the already existing software
packages.
